SUMMARY:Quad Squad Info Session
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever been curious about junior roller derby? Here’s your chance to learn more about our introductory class to get you rollin’ on your new journey! \nJoin us January 9\, 2027 at 10:00am to learn more. \nDuring our info session\, coaches and members of our league will be able to answer questions you may have about the program\, our league\, associated fees\, the level progression for skaters\, etc. The info session will take place during our regular practice time so prospective skaters will get to watch a bit of what practice for different levels looks like! \nDue to some scheduling conflicts and our league’s annual Boots & Bruises tournament\, we will have to adjust our schedule. Therefore\, the session dates will not all be consecutive and will be as follows:\nJanuary 16 – first session!\nJanuary 23\nFebruary 13\nFebruary 20\nMarch 6 – Final day/assessment day! \nQUAD SQUAD (age 8+) is an introductory class consisting of 5 sessions covering basic skating skills needed for derby: \nStride/balance/agility\nFalling safely\nStops\nSpeed (timed laps)\nIntroduction to roller derby (no contact) \nQuad Squad sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 8:30am – 9:30am for five weeks. \nPlease RSVP so we know to expect you on January 9th! \nClasses for our Winter Session will begin on January 16th. If you are familiar with this program and are ready to commit to enrollment\, you can review further details and register here. \nIf you can’t make it to the info session but have additional questions\, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Kristy Stryker at outreach-head@rockincityjrd.org.

SUMMARY:Quad Squad - Winter 2027
DESCRIPTION:This registration is for our upcoming Winter 2027 Quad Squad Session. You can find additional information about the Info session and RSVP here. \nOur Winter 2027 anticipated class dates are:\nJanuary 16\nJanuary 23\nFebruary 13\nFebruary 20\nMarch 6 (assessments!) \nPlease note that sometimes the schedule needs to shift due to unplanned circumstances; if this happens\, we will notify families as soon as possible of the rescheduled date. Participants are still guaranteed five classes in a Quad Squad session. Please try to attend every session\, as make-up sessions for your absence are not offered. \nOur website is designed to automatically generate and email you a “ticket” associated with this registration. Please note you do not need to present this ticket to attend Quad Squad. \n__________________________________________________________________________________ \nWelcome to Rockin’ City! \nRockin’ City Junior Roller Derby is a National Member of JRDA in the Open Division. We are open to all skate-ready kids ages 8 to 17. The Charter Team competes from January to May\, with Championships occurring in June/July each year. \nAll members\, including parents/guardians\, must abide by the Code of Conduct at all times. We encourage parents/guardians to stay and watch practices when able\, however we ask that you respect the coaches at all times. Breaches of Code of Conduct will result in immediate removal without refund. \nQUAD SQUAD (age 8+) is our introductory class consisting of 5 sessions covering basic skating skills needed for derby: \n\nStride/balance/agility\nFalling safely\nStops\nSpeed (timed laps)\nIntroduction to roller derby (no contact)\n\nBy registering for Quad Squad\, you are becoming a member of the RCJRD family! However\, you will not graduate to an active league skater until you pass the Level 1 JRDA Skill Assessment. Level 1 assessments will be given on the last day of each Quad Squad session. Skaters who pass the assessment will become Level 1 league skaters. Skaters who do not pass the assessment can enroll in the next Quad Squad session to continue building their skills. \nQuad Squad sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 8:30am – 9:30am for five weeks. \nThe registration fee is $100 per skater\, which includes the required annual skater insurance. The skater insurance is required for your participation in quad squad\, and coverage will continue for the remainder of the season during which you join. \nFor established skaters who are at least 8 years old\, you have the option to try out for the league without joining the introductory Quad Squad; instead you can choose to challenge the Level 1 JRDA Skill Assessment.\nThe fee for the assessment is $45; if you pass the assessment\, this fee will cover your first months’ dues as a Level 1 skater. If you do not pass the assessment but are still interested in joining RCJRD\, you will need to register for Quad Squad.\nThe $45 fee is non-refundable and does not apply toward your Quad Squad registration. The assessment schedule will be determined and provided after your enrollment is submitted\, but is generally offered on the last class day of the Quad Squad session. \nWhen considering joining Quad Squad and RCJRD\, please review additional information regarding the skater levels and teams here. \nPlease note\, skate rental from the practice venue is included in your registration. We have limited amounts and sizes of other available gear to borrow\, including elbow & knee pads\, and wrist guards. The list of required gear for junior roller derby can be found here. However\, while mouth guards are always recommended\, they are not absolutely required for Quad Squad\, as it is no-contact and no full game play is involved during the session. \nShould you have any questions\, please email Kristy Stryker at outreach-head@rockincityjrd.org. Kristy will reach out to you with additional information regarding your selection once your registration has been submitted. \nWe look forward to skating with you this season!
